Appearance
Light yellow to brown viscous liquid.
Dissolution
Soluble in water, the solution is milky white and can significantly reduce surface tension.
Preparation
It is produced by esterification of maleic anhydride and sec-octanol under the catalysis of p-toluenesulfonic acid catalyst at 120-140℃, and then sulfonation with sodium bisulfite.
The pH value of 1% aqueous solution is 9.5 to 7.0, and it is not resistant to strong acids, strong alkali, metal salts and reducing agents. Its permeability, wettability, emulsifier and foaming properties are all good.
